Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Officers stated they were alerted by a resident who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Around fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Police say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely human blood.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.

A high-ranking official said the incident left him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
